WASHINGTON, Oct. 5 BIO InvestorForum will focus on the
companies, clinical developments and research trends that are
considered to be
part of the "Growth Watch List" across the biotechnology sector. BIO
InvestorForum 2005 will take place at the Palace Hotel in San
Francisco,
October 18-20. The conference will be hosted by the Biotechnology
Industry
Organization (BIO), Bank of America and Lehman Brothers and co-
hosted by CIBC
World Markets, Jefferies and RBC Capital Markets.
BIO InvestorForum will highlight growth opportunity areas which
include
diabetes, hepatitis C, pain, lupus, cancer and cardiovascular
diseases and
areas of discussion will focus on clinical strategy, product
development and
the shifting regulatory landscape. Topics and issues comprising
the "Growth
Watch List" were developed by a special advisory board appointed
this year by
BIO comprised of industry thought leaders, buy-side investors, media
and
venture capitalists. (Please see list below.)
"While cancer, cardiovascular diseases and diabetes, will
continue to
garner research dollars in years to come, other diseases and
conditions like
lupus, sleep disorders, hepatitis C and pain are sparking much
interest in the
labs and among the investment community," said Morrie Ruffin, BIO's
executive
vice president of capital formation and business
development. "Investors,
clinicians and company CEOs will take a look at these areas of
research and
the clinical landscape affecting them at BIO InvestorForum."
Among other highlights will be Mark McClellan, administrator for
the
Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, who will deliver the
luncheon
keynote address Wednesday, Oct. 19.
The conference also provides investors and company
representatives a venue
to discuss potential partnerships and investment opportunities. This
year's
conference will feature 200 public and late-stage private company
presentations.
